Nominated workplace first aiders or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid
Learning Outcomes
- Have confidence to deal with first aid emergencies in the workplace
- Have the knowledge to apply basic first aid to emergency situations
- Understand the treatment for an unconscious person
- Know how to stem bleeding
- Understand resuscitation techniques
- Know how to use the items contained in a standard first aid kit
- Have an understanding of the first aid regulations
- Be competent in the application of basic first aid treatment
- Able to apply fist aid in the modern workplace
- Be more proficient in the workplace
On successful completion of the four day course and tutor assessment delgates receive an HSE approved first aid certificate allowing them to practice first aid for three years.

Who the course is for?
This course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks, where a nominated or appointed person is required to take charge in the event of an illness or accident.

- Know how to stem bleeding
- Understand resuscitation techniques
- Understand what are common workplace injuries
- Able to deal with a person suffering from shock

- Have an understanding of the first aid regulations
Certification is based on continuous assessment by the tutor and an approved certificate issued on successful completion of the course.

Who the course is for?
Anyone who, during the course of their normal duties, may be required to use lifting equipment or control overhead cranes using hand signals, and those who are required to supervise such operations.
Learning Outcomes
- Able to apply the relevant aspects of LOLER regulations to their operations
- Understand the need to plan lifting operations
- Carryout a pre-operation inspection
- Apply correct crane and hoist operating procedures
- Assess hazards and risks associated with a load
- Understand how to correctly use hooks, slings and chains
- Understand the safety principles in relation to hoisting and slinging
- Know how to use the correct operating signals when communicating with a crane operator
- Understand what constitutes a fault and what to do if it unsafe to proceed

Who the course is for?
Anyone who, during the course of their normal duties, may be required to use or erect mobile tower scaffold
Learning Outcomes
- Know how to safely erect a mobile tower scaffold
- Understand what is required to work safely on tower scaffold
- Recognise potential hazards related to the work or equipment (under consideration)
- Detect any defects, or omissions in that work or equipment
- Able to specify remedial action to rectify potential hazards in equipment or work pattern
- Be competent to work on mobile tower scaffold
- Understand the principles of law relating to mobile tower scaffold use
- Improve their operational performance and safety standards whilst working at height
- Understand the need to plan work at height and to work safely
On successful completion of the course delegates receive an encapsulated photo-ID card verifying that they have passed the course to PASMA standard.

Who the course is for?
Anyone who, will be designated to operate powered access equipment eg: scissor lifts, vertical platforms, telescopic and articulating booms, van / truck mounted platforms (IPAF MEWP categories should be checked and the classification of license required should be verified prior to the course.)
Learning Outcomes
- Be fully aware of the relevant safety regulations relating to the equipment
- Be able to manoeuvre the machine proficiently and safely
- Be able to correctly position the machine and carryout tasks in a correct and safe manner
- Recognise potential hazards related to the work or equipment
- Know the correct type of personal protective equipment to be used
- Aware of what should be included in a pre-use safety check
- Aware of what should be included in a pre-use function check
- Improve their operational performance and safety standards whilst working at height
- Able to plan the route of travel and identify hazards associated with MEWP travel
On successful completion of the course delegates receive a certificate a PAL (powered access license) photo ID card detailing categories of equipment that may be operated. The card is valid
for 5 years.
